Trauma Informed Nation

Operation Angel Wing

Operation Angel Wing combines highly effective techniques in trauma intervention and coaching with extensive backgrounds in Military Special Operations, Law Enforcement, and Emergency Medical Services. Our team brings understanding, relevance, experience and evidence-based tools and techniques into the arena of behavioral health.

We have developed numerous formats and programs that allow us to craft an individual approach toward the emotional well-being and education of our clients. OPAW brings proven, board-certified therapies and long-term trauma recovery coaching to the table along with a highly comprehensive approach to behavioral and emotional wellness.

The OPAW Team is committed to raising awareness and fighting for our Nation’s veterans and first responders and their families that suffer from the devastating effects of PTS.

We firmly believe that it doesn’t just “take a village“, but that it will TAKE A NATION to fight this epidemic.

Post-Traumatic Stress

OPAW treats PTS as an injury…not a mental illness or disorder.

Post-Traumatic Stress should be considered contagious. The service member is not the only one struggling; their family and loved ones are helplessly suffering as well. Each of OPAW’s members have served either in the military or public service and have journeyed through their own battles with trauma. We genuinely understand the fight against suicide and the brutal enduring effects that trauma can inflict.

The first line of defense for the struggling veteran/first responder is family. Most of the devastating symptoms of PTS will manifest in the family home.

Home can become a dangerous place for both the veterans/first responders and their families who are suffering with untreated anxiety and traumatic stress.

The Effects of PTS

The most recent statistics show that the loss of veteran lives due to suicide has not changed, and in fact is climbing. Even more alarming is that 14 of the 22-45 daily suicides went undiagnosed and without necessary treatment or intervention. Recent studies by the D.O.D tell us that 90% of all veterans diagnosed with PTS admitted to some type of violence within the family unit. Operation Angel Wing is on the front lines, fighting for our defender’s families by addressing domestic violence, suicide, and substance abuse among other challenges.

Symptoms of PTS:

  • Sleep Disturbances and Nightmares

  • Severe Anxiety

  • Agitation

  • Social Isolation

  • Hypervigilance

  • Flashbacks

  • Emotional Detachment

  • Self-destructive Behavior

  • Survivor’s Guilt

  • Depression and Feelings of Helplessness

If you know a service member or their immediate family that is suffering from the effects of PTS, please reach out to OPAW. If you are in a crisis, please call the Veterans Crisis hotline at 1-800-273-8255 or call 911 for immediate assistance.
